Creating a Fun and Connected Culture for Pirate Parents in 2024!
Once a Pirate always a Pirate! If you haven't heard that yet... You Will! The Pirate Swim Team has been a hugely positive and beneficial presence in my family's life. My daughter and I came to the Pirates when she was five years old. She learned to swim here and that has turned into a great love of swimming. I swam for a few seasons as a child but my experience was so much different that Mary Emily's. I didn't have the fun experience or the close knit group of friends on the team that she has experienced. Our kids have and will always be our priority as Pirate Parents. This is a certain! We focus so much on creating the best and most fun environment for our kids that sometimes it can be easy to forget to have fun ourselves.
I humbly speak for the entire Pirate Board, our new Head Coach, and our roster of fabulous returning coaches when I say... 2024 is the year of the parents! My experience with swim team as a parent is that I get into it what I get out of it! The more involved I have become with Pinnacle the greater my enjoyment of the exprience. I have made so many great parent friends and I love that we can all cheer for one another's children and the team together. Mahatma Ghandi said "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service!". This has proven true for me over and over. In a world where everything is all about instant gratification and getting something for nothing, I hope that we can come together as Pirate parents to show our kids that service is not only a way to build self esteem and create community, its fun!
This year I ask you to examine your gifts and talents and bring whatever you can to make more fun memories for all swimmers and parents of the Pirates. WE NEED YOU!!! Join us, jump all in, paint yourself green or red or whatever! Reach out to the new parent that doesn't know anyone.
